Update: strikes in regional transport

Update 3 April: The strikes in regional transport are off for now. Employers and unions resume negotiations to try to reach a new collective labour agreement.

Update 28 March: The planned strikes on 29 and 30 March will not take place. Employers and unions are continuing negotiations.

Please note that the planned strikes on Monday 20 March, Wednesday 22 March and Friday 24 March will not take place due to negotiations between employers and unions.

Regional transport has announced to go on strike on 15 days in the coming six weeks. This means that trams, buses or regional trains of companies other than NS may not run on those days. Therefore, keep an eye on travel planners and expect longer travel times.

If you use regional transport and want to avoid surprises, you are advised to find alternative transport on these strike days or postpone your journey if possible.

On which days will there be a strike?

The six-week strike period will begin on Tuesday 28 February. Thereafter, the strike will take place on Thursday 2 March, Monday 6 March, Wednesday 8 March, Friday 10 March, Tuesday 14 March, Wednesday 15 March, Friday 24 March, Monday 3 April, Wednesday 5 April and Friday 7 April. Please keep an eye on the travel planners on these days.

Education continues, so do tests

Education will continue as usual during the public transport strike. If, as a result of the strike, you are absent from education where attendance is compulsory, you can invoke the strike and the compulsory attendance lapses. If you have an exam or other test, this does not apply; the strike is not a valid reason to be absent and you will not be given an extra test opportunity.
